Reverse osmosis technology allows plants to desalinate/purify sea water for consumption.  Interesting to see a new technology, the graphene sieve, emerge as a new technology which could utilize less energy to desalinate sea water.  This is especially pertinent in areas such as the desert southwestern United States.
